What is ABA?

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is widely known as the evidence-based treatment for symptoms of autism, developmental delays, and similar diagnosis. ABA focuses on increasing positive behaviors and reducing negative behaviors through a scientific, safe, and compassionate process.  Our ABA services support individuals with autism and similar diagnosis achieve their goals and maximize their ability to fully participate in daily activities. Through this type of programming, most children increase: academic skills, communication skills, and social skills. Our services do not just involve the child, but ongoing support to their families, caregivers, and teachers as well.  Our goal is to support the children of the Virgin Islands in their journey towards maturing into independent and functional members of our community.

Who is a BCBA?

A Board Certified Behavioral Analyst is a professional who has studied behavioral intervention strategies and earned a Master’s degree, at minimum. They evaluate each new client, follow their progress, and create and update treatment plans for each client on an individual basis. All BCBA’s are certified by the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board.

Who is an RBT?

An RBT, or Registered Behavior Technician, is a trained paraprofessional that works closely with the BCBA to put the treatment plan into action. They must complete and pass courses in applied behavioral therapy. Each child works one-to-one with an RBT to make progress based on their treatment plan and goals. RBT’s are responsible for taking data and administering therapeutic activities to support each child’s progress.
